Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Breeding:
The mating and oviposition patterns of Black Soldier flies are strongly influenced by visual cues from light which are precise in terms of their specific wavelengths. The product offers a perfectly balanced mix of 370 nm (UV-A), 435 nm (blue), and 525 nm (green) wavelengths.
Research suggests that Black Soldier Fly compound eyes are mostly sensitive to near-ultraviolet (365 to 370 nm) and blue-green (430 to 530 nm) wavelengths of light. At 370 nm, the UV-A light acts as a trigger for courtship and mating activities. Also, the mixture of 435 nm and 525 nm light supplements the visible part of the light received from the sun during daytime. It has been tested in field conditions and the customized spectrum of light was able to increase the rate of mating and the production of eggs indoors by 30%–50%.

Our usual recommendation for installation height is 0.8–1.5 meter above the mating cage tops, subject to ceiling height of the facility. A single 120W light fixture can illuminate an area of 4-6 m2. We provide free DIALux lighting simulations and lighting plan layout using facility blueprints.
