What is LED Ceiling Light?
A ceiling light is a type of lighting fixture. As the name suggests, it's called a ceiling light because its top is flat, so when installed, its base rests completely against the ceiling. Light sources include standard white bulbs, fluorescent lamps, high-intensity discharge lamps, halogen lamps, and LEDs. LED ceiling lights are fixtures that attach to or embed into the ceiling. LED ceiling lights with a diameter of approximately 200mm are generally suitable for hallways and bathrooms, while those with a diameter of 400mm are ideal for installation in rooms of at least 16 square meters. Common LED ceiling lights on the market come in D-shaped and ring-shaped tubes, as well as larger and smaller tube sizes. When purchasing an LED ceiling light, there are three key considerations. First, check whether the product labeling is complete. Legitimate products tend to have standardized labeling, including the trademark and manufacturer's name, model and specifications, rated voltage, rated frequency, and rated power. Second, check whether the power cord bears the CCC safety certification mark. The cross-sectional area of the external conductor should be ≥0.75 square millimeters. Third, check whether the live parts of the lamp are exposed. After the light source is installed in the lampholder, the live metal lamp cap should be out of reach of fingers.
Types of Ceiling Light
Lighting fixtures using different light sources are suitable for different locations. For example, ceiling lights using standard incandescent or fluorescent bulbs are primarily used for lighting spaces with ceiling heights of approximately 4 meters, such as homes, classrooms, and office buildings. High-intensity discharge (HIDI) lamps, which have higher power and larger light sources, are primarily used for lighting spaces with ceiling heights of 4 to 9 meters, such as stadiums, hypermarkets, and factories. To provide sufficient height for work surfaces while saving energy, fluorescent ceiling lights are often the preferred choice for lighting in homes, schools, shops, and offices.
