Core strengths

poultry feed

Antimicrobial peptides in black soldier fly larvae protect poultry and livestock from intestinal disorders, e.g. piglet diarrhea.

Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) are accepted as very palatable diets, increasing feed intake and these increased feed intakes have also resulted in increased live weight gains. There has been documented evidence of an increased daily live weight gain of 5-10% in broiler when fed BSFL.

Specialized agriculture

It is now possible to feed black soldier fly larvae straight to animals such as bullfrogs, turtles and scorpions, cutting the formulated feeds.

The water percentage of black soldier fly larvae is roughly 70%, compatible with the diet of reptiles and amphibians.

Aquaculture feed

The amino acid profile of black soldier fly protein resembles fishmeal, with AA compositions that are disproportionately rich in lysine and methionine. This makes BSF unavoidably appropriate for use in carnivorous fishes such as trout, grouper and salmon.

Replacing fishmeal with black soldier fly larvae could benefit the aquaculture industry by reducing the incentive for overfishing since one third of worldwide fishmeal end product is used in aquaculture feeds.

Pet food

The Bovine soldier fly is a suitable protein for high-protein, grain-free diets, as they meet the pet food standards outlined by the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFco) and the European Union.

It has very low allergenicity, which makes it perfect for animals that develop allergic reactions to properties like chicken or beef and so on.
