Far-Red Light (730nm)
Far-red light at 730 nm promotes photosynthesis when combined with red light, but has minimal effects on its own. It influences phytochrome reactions, which promotes seed germination, the transition to flowering, and shade avoidance, allowing stems to grow longer and reach the light. This spectrum is particularly useful for plants in transition from the vegetative to the reproductive stage, as it supports processes such as flower bud formation. Far-red light is often used as supplemental lighting to optimize growth in dense canopies or controlled environments. Its effect is most pronounced when combined with red light, making it a valuable addition to full-spectrum systems.
Suitable Plants: Most plants, especially those requiring enhanced germination or flowering (e.g., tomatoes, cannabis).
